Celebrate 50 years at Fairville and the creative spark in every child.

Support our 50th Anniversary Campaign to reimagine and renovate the middle of campus by creating a dedicated art studio, new classroom, garden courtyard and other outdoor gathering spaces, while preserving the 1860s timber frame barn.

“Knowing that a paintbrush or a lump of clay in the hands of a child is ‘magic waiting to happen,’ I wanted Fairville children to paint and sculpt to their hearts’ content.” - Barbara DesJardins

Fairville Friends School Founder Barbara DesJardins started the school for a handful of children in her home–the original 1866 Fairville one-room schoolhouse.

Half a century and thousands of alumni later, we continue to honor Barbara’s vision as art remains at the heart of the Fairville experience. Now, to commemorate our golden anniversary, we’ve created an art studio at the heart of our campus.

We have been hard at work on phase one of our 50th Anniversary Project. Our barn received a full exterior renovation with long lasting siding and windows. New roofs have been added to all the middle structures and we’ve renovated the studio space to make a new classroom for the new Dragonfly class. A new garden courtyard beautifully connects our campus with a safe path from the upper parking lot and serves as a gathering space adorned with personalized bricks (learn more about ordering your personalized brick here. And most excitingly, the old glass gallery has been transformed into a new art studio that we’re almost ready to unveil! Plus, an outdoor art space is almost ready to give our children a place to dream and create under the boughs of our beloved oak tree.

Now, we need your help to complete the 50th Anniversary Project which will entirely reimagine the middle section of campus between the farmhouse and the barn.

Next, we strive to lovingly preserve one of the original structures of Woodward Farm, a chestnut timber frame barn from the 1860s. Restoring the covered patio below the Dragonfly classroom will give our community more open air spaces to gather, while maintaining artifacts of the past like original cow ties still embedded in the old stone foundation. And, new exteriors will ensure the longevity of our campus infrastructure.

How can you help? Our goal is to raise $250,000 towards this project. We’ve raised around $200,000 and we need your help to close that gap.

Please consider joining us—Fairville trustees, staff, families, grandparents, alumni and community—in making a gift to help us create these spaces for our children today and 50 years to come.

Submit your Own Fairville Friends Story…

Beyond a monetary gift, it would mean so much to have you gather with us in spirit and share a gift of words as we celebrate Fairville’s 50th year. YOU are the story of Fairville, part of what makes it magical, and we want to hear your stories!

Whatever your connection is to this community, past or present, we invite you to express what Fairville has meant to you, a cherished memory, or a brief anecdote. We welcome children’s written words and drawings, too! (email any photos or attachments to: 50years@fairvillefriends.org) In time we will find the best way to share these word gifts with everyone as we reflect on almost a half century of learning, playing, and growing together at this magical little place we call Fairville Friends.

Since 1973, Fairville Friends School has been able to flourish and provide meaningful learning experiences to all children who enter our doors. Our school depends on parents, grandparents, trustees, teachers and friends to contribute as generously as possible.  Every gift makes a difference, each donation has an impact, and by contributing you will help us provide that which makes Fairville so special.

Please help us bring this project to our current and future generations of Fairville children with your gift. Your friendship and generosity are deeply appreciated.
